In another experiment with combining painting and sculpture, for a while I did paintings that had no frames, painted on both sides, that hung from the top, suspended. This was one of the early ones. I found that some of them evoked almost a figurative presence.

Lockjaw (Detail)

This painting has hung in my unheated and uncooled garage for the last three years and is holding up very nicely. This detail shows how it is hanging from the bison jaws. It is interesting the steps an artist takes to arrive at his/her present. There is a logic to it, in spite of its constant fluidity.
