This photo was taken while the house was under construction, as so many of my fireplace photos are. I must have forgotten to take a picture after I trimmed the hearth back. This fireplace was fun to carve. I like carving scrolls, and scrolls with leaves are even more fun.

This was quite a few years ago. It would be fun , if I could remember where it is, to just show up one day, knock on the door, and introduce myself and ask if I could get a decent photo of the piece. I wonder if the original homeowner still lives there.

This is a good close up shot of Kansas Limestone. the holes don’t seem to affect the carveabilty, unless you get a really big one. I like the material, in part because of the holes. It is clearly a rock and not an artificial poured substitute.
