This button tufted marble floor had to be shipped three times before it arrived. The first time it was finished it was purchased at a price that could not be refused; the second time the container fell off the boat and sunk to the bottom of the sea. Third time was the charm.
A beautiful example of how a profile can be made much richer with an ornamental band. Looks boring tyo do, maybe, but actually it’s a blast. You have to be super focused for the entire time.
The foliate work here is a great example of how the acanthus motif is still a vital form.
