Because stone is so heavy, it is difficult to achieve a lot of negative space within a sculpture. Creating a sense of lightness, both literally and figuratively, is a challenge I often explore.

I use a forklift to move the pieces around, which, of course, won’t fit through a standard door. I have only been able to show them indoors at the Ohio State Fair Fine Arts building, which is big enough to have a loading door, and the fair has access to forklifts. In particular I would like to see this piece indoors. I think it would be perceived entirely differently.
