The environment and like issues have always been a part of my work, and occasionally I will get obvious about it. I try not to- I think subtle commentary generally more effective- but sometimes I have to frank.

These large steel rivets are embedded in a stream of epoxy resin; pieces cur from a fireplace commission form the verticals, and the base slab, inscribed with letters carved into past commissions (randomly chosen from a large stock of templates); this piece was directly inspired by a radio story about the Cleveland river that caught fire some time ago.

I have always found the combination of man-made forms made of natural elements displayed in a natural environment to be a solid context for environmental commentary. I am grateful that my environment affords such opportunities.
