Reverand Ashburn Memorial

I was honored to have been selected to do the bust of the Rev. Jacob Ashburn, 2nd black Ohio congressman. This was the dedication, in the lobby of the recreation center that bears his name.

This is Rev. Ashburn’s grandson, demonstrating the likeness.

Thousands of young people have passed by this sculpture over the years. How cool is that, I ask you?

The Rev. Jacob Ashburn, the best I could do. The only pictures of him, at all (!), were tiny Polaroids. The details of his face were indistinguishable. It was his grandson that gave me the best clue to his likeness.
