Butler Bulldog

Carved by Matthew Palmer in association with Old World Stone Carving., this bulldog has stood ground outside the Union Building of Butler University since 1996. I have since done many more projects for Butler over the years. Matthew stayed with me for a few more years, and now maintains a successful sculpture studio of his own.

I had made a steel template equal to the size and shape of his paws, and I bush-hammered paw prints into the concrete. I was there in 2013, and there were a line of kids waiting to get their picture taken with it. They tell me it’s like that every year.

Thanks Butler, for the many projects over the years, and for all the well wishes the students have given  out! I’ve since done several more Bulldog Mascots, and I always enjoy working with universities and schools.
