Indiana Limestone
32" diameter, 9" thick
The family who commissioned this piece wanted something "fun, unique and very personal." Dale suggested playing with the totem pole concept, giving each member of the family the opportunity to choose their own representative talisman. The father chose the owl, the mother the spruce tree, the twelve year old daughter the tree frog, the fourteen year old daughter the wolf and the four year old son chose the bear cub. Dale was left to put it all together and chose the ring motif and the moon since they are all night animals. The spruce isn't particularly a "night" thing, nut so what?
