Another of Dale's original designs, this beautiful fireplace is one of the few fireplaces we've done in Kansas Bottom Ledge limestone. It's a bit harder than the Top Ledge stone, but it has no holes or fossils. The color is similar to Top Ledge. The stone was well suited for this combination and room. Carving such delicately ornamented moldings is a meditative pleasure. Carved moldings can add a whole new layer to an already well-designed piece. We particularly like the ornamented hearth. In this case it helps to "ground" the ornament above (note the profile and beadwork on the inner surround). And the son's trophy for having one of the top 100 hot rods in Ohio. Congrats, Marty!
