These limestone details were added to the Student Union Building at Butler University in Indianapolis when the building was expanded. Dale was given photos of some of the existing (originally carved in the 1920's), and given free reign to try to work in the style of the originals. We did a couple dozen, and they each add their own charm to an already charming building, now larger, but without a loss of luster.

Stone carving has long enjoyed a rich tradition of university and civic patronage, and it should be pointed out that the masterpieces of the past that adorn so many of our proudest buildings are almost never vandalized, and that in fact often historical societies are formed of volunteers who seek to preserve them.
