These four sculptures were inspired by the family of a retired NYC police officer. During the renovation of their home, it was decided to do large stone planter shelves under the second story windows. The idea of doing grotesques to support the shelves met with approval. We met at a diner somewhere in New Jersey when Dale happened to be installing a fireplace. Later, on a different trip to the Northeast, Dale spent the night with the family, and a great time was had by all, finding ideas and themes for each piece. Clay models were sculpted for approval, incorporating the ideas that each family member had for themselves and each other, and the the carving began, using the Renaissance devise called the Maccianetti di Punto to translate the clay masters into stone (see the "processes" page to learn more about the Maccianetti di Punto). Each piece hold

a cast bronze detail, shown as red wax in the clay model shots. Installation of the pieces is scheduled for early 2006; check back to see the final product.
