Balance is a piece that has occupied me for several years. The wood is from what was supposed to be a part of a commissioned Holocaust Memorial; the funding never went beyond the purchase of the first of
what were to be a total of six Catalpa logs. The head is from another sculpture, a sculpture of my own version of David (see David elsewhere in this section), which broke off due to a flaw in the stone
while I was working on the foot. The "eggs" are the first of what I wanted to be about one hundred pieces, but boredom set in. The overall work is supported by the half the base of the original bust of Lincoln in the Ohio Capital. The base and sculpture were removed during the Capital's restoration, and had to be split in order to make it through the door. The artist's original signature is still evident.
There is yet something to happen with this piece, I'm just not sure what or when. It might not be decided until it is installed in it's purchaser's final location. In the meantime, I like it in my front yard.
